Mashiko Museum Residency Program Spring2026
My work is focused on the sensitive interaction between maker and material. I consider the evolution of each piece as being intrinsically linked to the patterns of daily life and centred around the joy of enjoying food with others. Primarily, I make thrown functional ware, from my studio in Stoke-on-Trent which I fire in a reduction atmosphere.
Growing up in Devon, I was first introduced to working with clay at Hollyford Pottery by the Slipware Potter Doug Fitch who inspired within me a deep respect for Studio Ceramics. I also studied at Chelsea College of Arts London, and more recently on the Diploma Course at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent.
I am looking forward to being the first Clay College graduate to partake in the residency exchange at the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art. I will look to explore the relationships and differences in the ceramics histories, materials and heritage of Stoke and Mashiko through a new body of work.
